Maintenance of Heat Recovery and Ventilation Systems
Given the huge range of heat recovery installation types, it is not surprising that the maintenance requirements of heat recovery systems vary.
The heat recovery and ventilation type of system will require the following maintenance:
- clearing of air filters, fans and grills
- periodic changing of filters, around every 5-6 months (these are fairly inexpensive)
- cleaning of ductwork
- ensuring that the settings on the control panel are correct
- checking condensate drains
Usually you will be able to check and change the filters yourself. Many installation companies and manufacturers recommend maintenance checks every year or every other year - installers may be able to do this for you.
Typically heat recovery and ventilation systems come with a manufacturers’ warranty of between 2 and 5 years.
Boiler flue economisers typically come with a warranty of at least 5 years, though given their lack of moving parts they can be expected to last significantly longer than this.
